Dental Exam & Ultrasonic Cleaning
Did you know now in Dr. K’s dental Office we can clean your teeth faster and better than before? Our Pro-Select Ultrasonic Scaler uses ultrasonic vibrations to remove plaque, tarter, stains and bacteria from your teeth, even in areas below the gum line which are beyond the reach of ordinary hand instruments or “picks.”

The ultrasonic vibrations are strong enough to remove hard calculus and stains, but are gentle enough not to harm your gums or teeth. When the tip of the ultrasonic scaler is placed near hard calculus, it painlessly breaks down and removes the build-up without the need to scrape.

If you also suffer from gum disease, the Ultrasonic Cleaning is the first step in the prevention, treatment and control of periodontal disease. While reaching below the gum line to remove bacteria, it also flushes the area with a medicated wash.

The Ultrasonic Cleaning will improve the overall health and appearance of your gums, and leave your teeth feeling cleaner than ever.

Root Canal Therapy
Complete pain free root canal treatment Root canal treatment is carried out when the pulp (soft tissue inside a tooth) is either inflamed or dead. The pulp is a tissue made up of nerves, connective tissue and blood vessels. The purpose of root canal treatment is to remove the inflamed tissue or bacteria inside the root canal and thus allow the surrounding tissues to heal.

What are the symptoms that indicate the need for root canal therapy?
  • Symptom 1: Moderate to severe lingering toothache when having hot or cold foods.
  • Symptom 2: Toothache pain so intense it wakes you up at night.
  • Symptom 3: Pain when chewing or biting.
  • Symptom 4: Swelling on your gum which when pressed may release blood or pus.
  • Symptom 5: Pain that starts in one tooth and spreads to other regions of the jaw or head e.g. an infected lower molar (back tooth) may cause you to feel pain in the ear!
* Sometimes, however there may be no symptoms. If properly performed and under normal circumstances, a root canal treated tooth can last you a lifetime.

Digital X-Rays / Pan / Ceph
At Dr. K’s dental office we use only digital X-rays which are much faster and produce better results with much lower exposure. The study found no risk for exposure at the levels used for digital X-Rays.

We offer three digital systems: intraoral, panographs & cephalometrics, which have 80-90% less radiation than conventional film-based x-rays. The images appear instantaneously on the computer monitor allowing Dr.K to immediately review the images with you and discuss treatment options that would benefit you the best.

Composite Fillings (White Fillings)
Also known as resin fillings, tooth-color fillings can fill a void after decay is removed from a visible portion of any tooth. The resin material is very durable and the color can be matched exactly to the tooth it repairs.

These are some of the more common methods to improve oral health along with making smiles more attractive. Nothing makes us happier than to see someone sharing a beautiful smile that our efforts helped to create. We feel that well-informed patients are better able to make the right decisions about any needed cosmetic dental procedures. Therefore, we have an offer on the back page we’d like you to take advantage of that will get you a thorough examination and cosmetic dental consultation so you can make the right choices about your own beautiful smile!

Veneers (Lumineers)
Finally, a comfortable way to reshape and permanently whiten your smile. No one can deny that medical technology is advancing at a blistering pace. Interestingly, the field of dentistry is providing some of the more widely accepted advancements that can be easily delivered to patients. One area that has gotten a tremendous amount of attention over the past 5 to 10 years is that of cosmetic dentistry. It was recently confirmed on the many TV shows that dealt with the enhancement of physical appearance that a vastly improved smile was more readily noticed and seemed to contribute more to looking better than procedures done to change facial features or contours of the body. The audiences and judges simply felt the improved smiles were the most notable and noticeable of all the changes contestants experienced. The message is, if you want to look better and feel more confident about your appearance, get a great looking smile!

Since we are constantly evaluating the new technology and products that evolve from advancements in dentistry, we were quite pleasantly surprised to come across Lumineers, the porcelain veneers that result in a very natural, beautiful smile. In only 2 easy dental visits, you will have a permanently whiter and beautiful smile, and best of all, Lumineers require only little removal of existing tooth structure, minimal or no anesthesia (numbing medication) and a very comfortable procedure on the patient.

At our office, we are having incredible success with these teeth-shaping veneers that are ultra thin and super strong. Applied to your natural teeth or restorations already in place, Lumineers transformed stained, misshaped, broken and crooked teeth into a radiant white smile. They are bonded directly to your natural teeth and set in place with a curing light. All with little to no anesthesia and very little discomfort if any, and in only 2 visits to our office.

More advanced than traditional veneers, Lumineers can transform your smile or the smile of a loved one into a beautiful expression of how you feel. Get your smile noticed by calling our office for a no obligation consultation to find out what Lumineers can do for you!

Orthodontics ( Invisalign )
Are you over the age of 25 and self conscious of your smile because your teeth are crooked? If so, then you are not alone. Orthodontics is no longer just for teens as more and more adults are motivated to straighten their teeth through adult orthodontics. State of the art methods include nearly invisible braces or the removable Invisalign clear system.

With the improved technology, you can have the straight teeth you have always wanted in as little as 6 to 12 months. Orthodontics is faster for adults than for teens because with teenagers, the orthodontist must straighten the teeth while following the growth pattern and allowing their jaw to develop to its full potential. As an adult, your mouth is done growing so it is easier and faster to move your teeth into the perfect arch.

Traditionally, metal brackets were the only option for braces. Now, you can get the clear, nearly invisible brackets. Another option is Invisalign, a set of clear polymer aligners that you wear all day, except when eating or brushing your teeth. You wear each set for about 2 weeks as it gradually repositions your teeth. Many people consider these to be "invisible braces".

Crooked teeth can put extra stress on your supporting tissue, possibly causing gum disease and tooth loss. A beautiful straight smile will not only give you a new found confidence, but your teeth will be easier to clean, which makes for a longer lasting smile, increased dental health and the proper bite will reduce head and neck pain.

Teeth Whitening
Teeth can become discolored for a variety of reasons. Teeth whitening systems administered by dentists and their staffs are extremely effective; and often a full set of otherwise healthy, normal teeth simply needs to be professionally whitened to create a more youthful, attractive smile. When other needed dental work is completed, often whitening is the final step to make a smile perfect.

Dental Implants
Implants utilize a titanium or ceramic "root" positioned within the jawbone, to which an artificial tooth or crown is attached. Implants usually look and feel most like natural teeth of any replacement procedure.

Extreme Make Overs
Bonding
A composite resin, the color of tooth enamel, can be used to repair fissures or chips and get rid of or diminish gaps. It is also be used to fill cavities while maintaining a more natural look than traditional fillings. Bonding is not usually as permanent as porcelain veneers.

Porcelain Veneers
A veneer is simply a very thin sliver of porcelain that can be bonded to the visible surface of a tooth to cover a variety of imperfections from discoloration to irregularities in the shape or contour. They can be produced to match any color or shape, and when done by a skilled dentist, are undetectable. A single tooth can be repaired to match those around it or an entire smile can be restored to perfection with veneers. They are extremely durable and look and feel natural.

Crowns
When a tooth is broken or badly decayed, or large older fillings need replacing, a dental crown is usually the recommended solution.

A crown can attach directly to the remainder of a tooth once any decay is removed, or an implant can be installed to provide a permanent anchor for the crown. (An implant is a screw surgically attached to the jawbone to secure restorations or dentures; restorations are fillings, crowns and bridges.)

The most common types of crowns are full porcelain, porcelain fused to metal and full metal crowns. Each has distinct advantages. Metal tends to be more durable while porcelain can match any tooth shade almost identically. It is the material of choice for teeth replaced that are not visible when talking or smiling. The porcelain fused to metal is a combination that attempts to capture the best traits of both: natural appearance and durability. The full porcelain crowns have the most natural appearance and are best suited for use in the front of the mouth where teeth are most visible.
